Film Profile

PETE HEWITT won a British Academy Award for his short film, THE CANDY SHOW in 1990. The attention from THE CANDY SHOW brought Hewitt to Los Angeles and helped land him his first feature BILL AND TED’S BOGUS JOURNEY with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter.

Since BOGUS JOURNEY, Hewitt has directed the feature films TOM AND HUCK, THE BORROWERS (John Goodman, Jim Broadbent), WHATEVER HAPPENED TO HAROLD SMITH? (Tom Courteney), GARFIELD (Bill Murray) and ZOOM (Tim Allen, Courteney Cox, Rip Torn).

In 2002 Hewitt produced and directed the feature comedy THUNDERPANTS (Paul Giamatti), which he wrote with writing partner Phil Hughes. Hewitt’s television work includes the cult mini-series WILD PALMS (Jim Belushi) produced by Oliver Stone and PRINCESS OF THIEVES (Keira Knightley) for ABC.

Hewitt is originally from Brighton, England. He graduated from the prestigious National Film School in 1990. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife Sophie and their three daughters.
